Use StumbleUpon Over Digg For Visitors
Just an observation from the past 2 days.. My last post, the PHP Scaffold Generator got ‘StumbledUpon’ and within an hour I had about 400 site visits. Not too shabby at all. This website is about two weeks old and was averaging around 40 visits a day according to the awstats program. So far I’ve had a few digg visits and have had two articles ‘Stumbled’. I really don’t know if ‘Stumbled’ is the right term or not, but I am going to call it that.. sounds good in my head.
StumbleUpon seems easier to get noticed on and sends a decent amount of traffic. I have had about 15 visits from digg. Unless you hit that front page on Digg you are buried with a million other stories competing for attention. Plus if you do hit the front-front page, most likely it will send a hundred thousand visitors and burn the server.. the dreaded Digg Effect.
Also, don’t expect a story about your cat flushing the toilet to get ‘Stumbled’.. try to offer something of use to people. Don’t be afraid to submit the article yourself and see if it catches on with other users. I did with the generator and then a few more people gave it a thumbs up.
Maybe I just got lucky, I’ll keep trying. I already have a few improvements in mind for the Scaffold Generator, I ‘ll have to resubmit it and see if i can get something similiar to happen.

Hi!
Yes you are right. I have experienced that too. Stumble gives you more visits than digg, btw digg is better for search engine spiders to pick up your story/site. I’m using both
btw, you have been stubmled

I still don’t get the whole digg and stumble upon stuff… I have both on my site but not exactly sure how to use them efficiently.
