Ok. I know this is off topic for this site but it is too good not to pass along. Here is an article about the future of human relationships with robots. More secifically, human sexual relationships with robots. Yea, tin can nookie. I can feel it now..From the article,

In the book, he predicts that by 2050, men and women will be enjoying physical and emotional bonds with extremely lifelike, apparently conscious and remarkably suave robots.

Also,

Is having sex with a robot healthy and normal? Absolutely. There are lots of people who find it difficult to find themselves a sex partner. These people are lonely, they’re miserable, they may suffer from some sort of psychological deprivation because they’re not getting regular satisfactory sex. If large numbers of unhappy people suddenly become happy, it must be good for society in general.

Thinks to think about… Can a robot replace the human connection? Or will it be creepy like the almost perfect CGI work in movies like Final Fantasy; the characters look real but they are just enough off to scare the hell out of you. I kinda think the latter.

I have submitted a few articles to the blog carnivals to see if it would drive any amount of traffic to this site. So far I am still undecided about the traffic opportunity due to the uninspiring results I have received.

I have submitted on two different rounds on two different carnivals. The first one I did I received a whopping 2 visitors when the carnival was posted. I wasn’t sure that it was worth the effort especially when the next couple of times brought about the same results. So maybe it is not such a great way to bring visitors, but maybe I am submitting to the wrong carnivals and haven’t found a big one yet.

The positive thing about submitting to carnivals though is the link you will receive. Links are like gold on the internet. Each link from a different blog carnival will bump your Technorati authority. That is definitely nice if you are playing the Technorati game and trying to boost your visibility in that network.

So my conclusion so far is that while blog carnivals are good for getting links and being visible in the community, they haven’t shown me to be a decent method of building traffic.

In the spirit of link building, I am going to offer a free post about your site. All you have to do is leave me a comment or email me and tell me what site you want linked. Be sure to include what you want the link text to be and let me know the meta data.. you know the title and alt.

The most important thing in SEO right now, and probably forever, is back links. The more links you have to your site the more important it is in the eyes of search engines. Of course there are many other factors taken into consideration and the more important the site is linking to you, the bigger search engine boost you get.

Anyway, this is easy, just tell me what you want your link to be and I will put it in a post.

The offer comes from a guy named Scott Wainner. He is an entrepreneur from the original dot com boom days. Sold his internet businesses when he was 21 for $12 mil. Now he is looking to buy forums big and small. I am sure he is looking to build his network of sites to build on affiliate sales and whatnot, but he presents an interesting opportunity.

He says he will look at any size you just have to give him some statistics. It may be a way for you to get rid of an old forum you don’t want to run anymore and make a little cash.

If you ask a business owner what their most effective advertising is they would most all say ‘word of mouth’. They can easily spend thousands of dollars on print or online ads, even more for television spots, but the most effective is word of mouth.

Everyday, everywhere we go we are bombarded by advertising. There are billboards on the side of the roads, commercials all over the television and radio, even ads on tables at your favorite diner. Anywhere you look it is as if there are a thousand businesses fighting for attention. People have become numb to advertising, accepting it as a part of life and glancing past it usually not giving it a second thought.

Word of mouth advertising comes from a trusted source. How do you feel when you are taking your car to a new place to get a service done? ? Do you feel less apprehensive about it if friends that have work done there have recommended the service shop or do you go to the place with the biggest ad spot?

You can’t buy that kind of recommendation. What does that have to do with websites you may be asking? Well, you CAN buy word of mouth advertising on the internet. There are many bloggers that do a pay for post, including myself if you are interested. If you are just starting out this may be a great way to get exposure to your website, especially if you are selling a product or service.

Also, don’t be afraid to tell your fiends about your new website, if nobody knows about it, how are people supposed to find it? This also applies to any forums you may belong to.. don’t be afraid to put your website in your signature or announce it in a post if allowed. Leave your trail on other blogs in their comments by adding to the discussion. Do not just leave your web url, that is bad form and your credibility will go down the tubes. Let people know you are there and if you have something to offer they may suggest the site to others. Keep offering quality content and get the word out.

I have been reading some of the big ‘Make Money Online’ blogs recently and have come to this conclusion… John Chow’s site, along with a few others, are used just like a pump and dump stock scheme.

The site is a simple blog. He has quite a few visitors so there is a wide audience. He makes occasional posts about restaraunts and food, there is the big monthly income post, the paid reviews and the rest are schemes. Most of the posts are about a new affiliate program or a new way to make money online, all laiden with affiliate links. I have to hand it to the guy though, he claims to have made $20k from the website just in September. That is serious bank.

So anyway, his large audience is like a huge, highly targeted mailing list. He is in on what ever it is at ground level and hypes the product-slash-deal all while using affiliate links and collecting commissions. I doubt he cares about what the product is or how he is pimping it as long as it brings him a return. I also doubt he cares much about the people jumping on his bandwagon as long as his bottom line is better.

A penny stock invester may do the same things… you’ve have all recieved emails about the next stock ready to explode. They are sent to as large an audience possible in hopes of a small percentage of clickthroughs or idiots who actaully buy the crap. And they do.. that is why there are so many of these emails sent. The orginal share holders, the ones that were in it at the beginning make the money when other people jump on the bandwagon and when the stock goes up a little the originals sell everything while it is hot and are on to the next one before anyone else has a chance to make a profit.

If you have an ameritrade account or something simliar, check out the stocks that are in the emails sometime. They will be trading at a level two or three times what they were earlier in the week. By the time you look at it the profit has already been made.

Seems to me that is how sites like John Chow works. Once you jump in on the offer, the money has already been made for the guys hyping it.

Just my two cents, I suppose.. any thoughts?
