Free Link for a Month

I have been looking into buying links from other sites to increase traffic to this site. I still have a few concerns though. Basically, this site is very new.. I don’t have an established reader base or a butt load of content yet, although my visits have steadily gone up. ( Not counting spikes from StumbleUpon ) I don’t think it is worth buying a link just yet. Anyone have any experience with this that they could share?

Since the whole goal of this site is to see if it can turn a profit I know i need more links here to dirve traffic, but I want to build some more useful resources first. I have a few helpful articles and the PHP Scaffold Generator but I think I need more meat before trying to get more visitors. I want them to come back after all, so there better be something of substance here.

So this is my proposal. Let’s trade. Add a link to this site for one month and I will add a link to your site in the featured sites sidebar for one month. Just leave a comment or email me, nick at this domain. I’ll put whatever metadata you want in the link but the only catch is the link has to be porn free. And I won’t link obvious scams. Other than that, all is game.

Hope to hear from you.

Use StumbleUpon Over Digg For Visitors

Just an observation from the past 2 days.. My last post, the PHP Scaffold Generator got ‘StumbledUpon’ and within an hour I had about 400 site visits. Not too shabby at all. This website is about two weeks old and was averaging around 40 visits a day according to the awstats program. So far I’ve had a few digg visits and have had two articles ‘Stumbled’. I really don’t know if ‘Stumbled’ is the right term or not, but I am going to call it that.. sounds good in my head.

StumbleUpon seems easier to get noticed on and sends a decent amount of traffic. I have had about 15 visits from digg. Unless you hit that front page on Digg you are buried with a million other stories competing for attention. Plus if you do hit the front-front page, most likely it will send a hundred thousand visitors and burn the server.. the dreaded Digg Effect.

Also, don’t expect a story about your cat flushing the toilet to get ‘Stumbled’.. try to offer something of use to people. Don’t be afraid to submit the article yourself and see if it catches on with other users. I did with the generator and then a few more people gave it a thumbs up.

Maybe I just got lucky, I’ll keep trying. I already have a few improvements in mind for the Scaffold Generator, I ‘ll have to resubmit it and see if i can get something similiar to happen.
